BLESSINGS

One of the people we are teaching was admitted to our small but impressive little hospital this week with a combination of sad situations.  He called us crying and was very distraught.  We had talked with him about the Restoration of the Priesthood, but had not yet told him about Priesthood Blessings.  I explained the ability that Priesthood holders have to give blessings, and Craig and a fellow from the Branch were able to give him one.  He called the next morning to say how much it had calmed him and helped him sleep.  How blessed we are to have access to such Power.

Last Tuesday we had an appointment at 2:00 to go visit a couple who live 22 miles away in a town called “Likely.”  After making the appointment I realized it would be 2:22 (on 2/22) during our visit, but being the dork that I am, I set my alarm anyway.  They were cute to accommodate a picture.

Terrible angle on the phone - it really does say 2:22!
She invited us to come across the street with them and wave flags for some Veterans.  Come to find out, the local American Legion gathered at 2:22 in Alturas, and drove the 22 miles out to Likely in memory of the 22 vets who die in a tragic way every day.  (I have since learned that there are many such commemorative walks, etc on February 22 every year.)  The County 4H group (who had gotten out of school for the event) had made a meal for these Vets and served them at the Likely fire station.  It was such an unexpected, sweet honor to be able to greet their convoy and meet and thank a few of them.  There are MANY Vets in this area; we so appreciate all Vets and their sacrifice to keep this BLESSED land free!!!!  “Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ.” (Ether 2:12)
It's hard to see that there were about 15 cars in the procession.

  2. Those are some great experiences. It is amazing how the Lord gives us little things in our lives to help us accomplish big things.
