What is YOUR Drive to Church Like Each Sunday Morning?

Meet the Gillogleys!  They attend the Branch in Cedarville.  Their drive to Church is only 30 miles long, but it is mostly over a dirt road!!!  We had heard that, but didn’t really appreciate it until we made a visit out to see them.  They live in Nevada and are in a Branch in California, within mission boundaries of an Oregon Mission!  The road is bumpy and rocky, and there is NOTHING between them and Cedarville, except in the winter when their “road” is TREACHEROUS with lots of snow!  But the Branch President said they are THE most dedicated members of the Branch (along with last week's Sister Johnson), and are there rain or shine or snow!  They leave an hour before Church each Sunday to make sure they’re on time.  Ahhhh – what great examples!

They are very humble and sweet and it was not easy to convince them let me to take a pic for our blog!

The above is Google Map's sign for their location, though it's 25 miles from there!
The bottom was taken by us.  Miles and miles of nothingness, except for pretty mountains!

Don't worry - we didn't drive the above road in this - We just passed it while we were out
walking one day and Craig wished we could switch cars!  It's from his era! 💓

Sorry to detract, but I have to share this silly story.  A few weeks ago our toilet clogged.  In my aggressive attempts at plunging it started to overflow.  Craig bailed water for an hour – I did for two hours, but the toilet kept filling, even with the water source turned off. No matter how fast I went, the water level stayed the same.  I finally decided I couldn’t do it any longer and stopped and was just going to deal with the mess.  But it didn’t overflow, so we took our sore backs and went to bed.  (Craig checked 5 times during the night that it was ok – surprisingly there are no 24-hour plumbers here! 😉)  In the morning the water was out of the toilet, and a plumber was called.  Before he came (two days later) I used the sink to wash my face and brush my teeth – and the toilet filled up!!!  For those three hours the water was just going down the sink drain and into the toilet!!!  Have I mentioned our house is 110 years old?  (I know – they didn’t have toilets when it was first built, but all modern conveniences are pretty makeshift.)  When we called the landlord he said, “Oh, the toilet in that house does that about every six months.”  Lovely!  (The good news – we have two bathrooms!  WHEW!) (You're welcome that no pics for this were included!!!)

  2. Oh that toilet mess sounds awful. I'm glad it was taken care of. Love hearing about the sacrifices of the Saints.
